The Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE) subject "Business, Accounting and Financial Studies" (BAFS) is an elective business subject designed to equip students with fundamental knowledge of business operations, accounting processes, and financial management. This subject is suitable for students interested in the business world and who wish to pursue careers in business, finance, or accounting. The curriculum consists of two parts: a compulsory part and an elective part. Students must complete the compulsory part and then choose one of the two elective modules, either the "Accounting Module" or the "Business Management Module."

The BAFS examination is divided into two papers. Paper 1 covers the compulsory part, testing students' understanding of basic business concepts, introductory accounting, business operations, and management concepts. The exam duration is about 1 hour and 30 minutes, accounting for 40% of the total score. Paper 2 covers the elective part; students choose either the Accounting Module (Paper 2A) or the Business Management Module (Paper 2B). This paper also lasts about 1 hour and 30 minutes and counts for 60% of the total score. All questions are written and include multiple-choice questions, short-answer questions, and structured questions, some of which require calculations or analysis.

For revision, students should adopt targeted strategies based on their chosen module. For all students, creating a glossary of common business terms can help memorize core concepts and improve answer accuracy. Additionally, practicing past papers and mock exams helps familiarize students with question types and score allocations while improving time management skills. Students taking the Accounting Module should focus on practicing journal entries, financial statement formats, and calculation questions, such as preparing balance sheets and income statements. For those opting for the Business Management Module, understanding management theories, marketing strategies, and human resource management concepts is essential, alongside learning to apply analytical tools like SWOT analysis and PEST analysis to tackle application questions.
